The dry summer is gone and we are ready to celebrate. The Cowichan Lake Trail Blazers Society has reached another milestone of for our Fairservice Fun trail network. But before I spill the beans and reveal where we are at, let’s look back a bit.
It feels like a long time ago when we completed our Level 2 trail builder course with the completion of the step down feature on Level Up. First we had a site, and a frame:
And after some decking work, clean up and some finishing touches the feature was ready to ride. We hope many of your enjoyed it already. And if not, don’t be scared. You can easily roll it and later gap the the step down into the dirt. Maybe join us on a group ride some time even.
Our recent work in the dry summer got is to staining work. After all each trail needs post at the start, at the end, and at some intersections. We bought the wood locally, and started the staining.
And after a few hours of making progress as a great team like that.
We ended up with a stack of 100 posts! Well, two stacks…
And our most recent achievement was completed last Sunday. The first post is in the ground.
We are so proud of our Fairservice Fun network of over 20 km of single and double track trails, and many more kilometers of connecting gravel roads. We got big plans to build more trails, better features, and generally have a lot of fun in the woods. A big thank you goes to everyone chipping in and helping in our mission to make Lake Cowichan and the surrounding area aa biking and hiking destination.
Why don’t you join us as a member and drop by at one of our upcoming trail building days or social rides.
